Occupational Hygiene and Chemical Safety

The Division of Occupational Hygiene & Chemical Safety provides technical expertise and support to departments in all aspects of occupational hygiene and chemical safety including the identification, evaluation, and control of occupational and environmental hazards.

Our services include the following:

Overseeing the Asbestos Management Program
Chemical safety management
Occupational hygiene evaluations e.g. noise, chemical exposures, etc.
Air quality assessments
Laboratory audits
WHMIS / Chemical Spill Designate Program
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Respiratory Protection Program
Assisting in the development of codes of practice
Conducting chemical safety reviews of research grants
Advising on chemical spill cleanup

New - The Chemical Safety Course is Now On-Line!

This course is available to all University staff and students who have a valid CCID. It provides information on the safe use, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals from University teaching and research laboratories.

All individuals working in laboratories are encouraged to take both the Laboratory Safety Course and the Chemical Safety Course.
